Funerals

We are always available to minister to the dying, to help bereaved families and to conduct funerals in Church or at the Crematorium.

Arrangements for a Requiem Mass or service at Our Lady St Vincent Church are made through the parish office, tel: 01707 654359 or email us.

The Parish Priest or Deacon will contact you directly to discuss the Order of Service and other details.

Preparing the funeral service of someone who has died can be a difficult thing to face. To assist you with the preparations, Westminster Diocese has prepared a number of leaflets which contain helpful information about the funeral format and liturgy, and also suggested readings and hymns. You can obtain these leaflets from the parish office or you may download by clicking on the relevant links below.

When can the funeral take place?

The funeral director will liaise with family, parish and cemetery/crematorium to arrange the day and time of the funeral service(s). Generally, nothing can be done until a death has been registered.

Before finalising your arrangements with the Funeral Director, please ensure that you make contact with the minister who will lead the service.

What are the financial implications?

Your funeral director will be able to advise you on the costs of the service they provide. There is often a higher cost for a funeral which includes burial. Those choosing burial will also need to consider the upkeep of the grave.

There is usually a fee for an organist or other musicians.

A stipend or offering to the parish for the services of the Parish Priest or Deacon leading the funeral service(s) is usual.  This stipend is usually included automatically in the account prepared by the Funeral Director, though the family is free to make its own arrangements.
